Welcome

The Mecklenburg Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), is always honored to share information with those interested in the DAR. Committed to patriotism, historic preservation, and education, our chapter promotes the mission of the DAR within our local community. We enjoy community service and are proud to make a difference in the life of our city, county, state, and nation. With a large and active membership of all ages, the Mecklenburg Chapter, NSDAR, abounds with programs, projects, and opportunities for service and leadership.

Each member is a direct descendant of a Patriot of the American Revolutionary War. We are proud to share a common heritage with the American Patriots who pledged their lives and fortunes for the causes of freedom and justice.

Mecklenburg Chapter, NSDAR, invited our district to participate in the Matthews Alive Parade. Members were empowered to build this float with their own hands.

Our chapter celebrated at a ceremony to install markers for 21 regents buried at the Historic Elmwood Cemetery in uptown Charlotte.

Members enjoyed hiding painted rocks at local parks to educate and bring awareness to Constitution Week.

Mecklenburg Chapter, NSDAR, is passionate about making a difference in our community.

  • We complete at least three cleanups per year at our adopted stretch of Shamrock Drive in front of the Charlotte Museum of History.
  • We host an annual “Day of Doing” when we fill inspiration jars for breast cancer patients, fold pocket flags for deployed military, paint rocks for Constitution Week, and write holiday greetings for veterans.
  • Our annual quilting bee creates lap quilts for hospitalized veterans.
  • Our adopted community classroom prepares Spanish-speaking children from low-income families for success in school. La Escuelita San Marcos, a bilingual preschool, is affiliated with Hopewell Presbyterian Church.
  • In partnership with Dress for Success Charlotte, our chapter collects gently used business attire for women rejoining the workforce.
  • Our passion for conservation is evidenced by our work with Catawba River Keepers and Envision Charlotte.

We love our community partners and are always looking for ways to have an impact locally.
